“My dog Tye Red Heeler, has enjoyed the 1st class services and care of "Paw in Hand Pet Services" Maren Bruun for the last year. He looks forward to his hikes with Maren and his other Paw In Hand participants on a weekly basis. Maren picks up and drops off, if the dog is muddy he is cleaned off and left with a "silly note" detailing  is experience and day.
"Tye" has also enjoyed a 7 day stay while his parents went on vacation.  We would not leave our "Heeler" the hands of anyone else for walks or vacation.  Maren is professional, knows pet care and loves the animals as her own.

“The Paw In Hand Training Workshop showed me how to get Caelus to focus on me instead of barking at kids playing nearby – a fantastic reversal! I also love that I keep learning more about my dog and realizing how much he wants to work and learn, not just be a sidekick. The lad is a sponge! Maren and Katherine have given me so many ideas and ways to keep Caelus in tune with me rather than trying to conquer the world (which we only do on Tuesdays).”

"Maren and all her furry friends at Paw in Hand have been our saviours since moving to Squamish.  Our pooch Travis knows what days to expect Maren to come and take him on an adventure, and those are his favourite days of the week.  Mine too, because he comes back tired and happy, and ready to relax.

“Maren has been dog sitting/doing field trips for our dogs for many years. Our current seven year old Flat Coat Retriever has been a visiting Hotel Paw In Hand (as we call Maren's home) since she was just weeks old.  Maren is Simply The Best.  She is a knowledgeable dog handler and has taken many courses in her field.    Dogs in her care get treated like a member of the family and it is with the greatest confidence and peace of mind that we leave our treasured pet with Maren.  We would not hesitate to recommend her for training, boarding or field trips.”

We recently took delivery of an 8 week old puppy and the delivery date of the pup conflicted with a trip that we had to take to China. Stress. Stress. What to do? Our breeder in Michigan raved about Maren, having sold her a puppy a few years earlier. We communicated regularly before taking delivery and Maren's kind demeanor and approach convinced us that we were about to make the best decision in all of our years of owning dogs. 48 hours after getting the puppy, we were on our way to Maren's and filled with all sorts of emotions. But within seconds of arriving and seeing the most incredible surroundings, we knew it was the BEST possible outcome for our situation. Maren's home is beautiful and located in one of the most incredible areas in all of B.C. Her home is near to fields and ponds and streams and her family loves dogs and you couldn't find a better combination anywhere if you tried. We then got to witness Maren interacting with her own dogs (including Opal from Michigan) and her training skills were, bar none, the BEST we've ever seen. Maren is kind and loving and caring and super talented and we knew our little 'Lucky' would have a great time. While we were gone, we received a steady stream of e-mail updates and videos showing the progress she was making with Lucky and some of the other dogs that were also staying at 'summer camp'! While we missed the little pup greatly, we knew she was in the best setting possible. In fact, we wondered if she would want to leave such an incredible place!

I can't write enough about the 'pawsitive' experience. We have recommended Maren to everyone in our universe that is ever in need of similar services, including our Vet. Although we live 30 minutes from Maren, we expect to enroll in some of her training classes in the Fall, because there is no better trainer that we've ever met! If you haven't met Maren, just think about a talented and loving person that could easily have been Cesar Milan's teacher! Cesar, move over. There’s a new player in town!

I could keep writing, but will sign off with an offer that you're welcome to call me anytime if I've overlooked any details that may be important for you and your dog!

Tarful and I are looking forward to the next class. We have incorporated the hand targeting in our household. It started out as a game, but now the kids use it when the puppy comes up to them. Now Tarful doesn't nip and is getting better at not jumping up on them. The kids also like showing people that our puppy can weave through their legs. I also learned to take the lead and not be led by my dog. Thanks for your work Maren and Katherine!

We have been a client of Paw in Hand since our Golden Retriever dog, Abby, was about a year old.  She is now 4 years old and still has trouble containing her excitement when she sees Maren pull up to our driveway to take her for her playday with her other doggie friends.   I've seen Abby watch out the window waiting for Maren to come by the house to pick her up.

Seeing the expression on Abby's face and excitement she displays when she sees Maren reassures me that Abby loves her field trips.  Maren's outings are long enough to ensure Abby is well exercised and content when she returns home to wait for her family to return from school / work.

Maren understands how important our pets are in our lives.  Maren has always been accommodating, reliable, and dependable.  On many occasions, Maren has made changes to her schedule to make it possible for Abby to participate in unplanned outings, sometimes requiring her to do two walks in one day.   She's been a lifesaver for our family making it so much easier for us to go to work knowing that our dog will be well cared for during our absence.

I highly recommend Paw In Hand Pet Services and I know Abby does too!

Our standard poodle Q-Tip used to be bossy, over-trained and under-socialized. Maren of Paw-in-Hand Pet Services provided some private lessons, follow-up and weekly field trips. The other day I was jogging with her off-leash. With each dog and alpha-human that we passed, Q would give a friendly bum-sniff to (the other dog, not the human) and quickly join me again on the tail. Now she and I are more confident, relaxed and everyone is safer. Maren has even helped me train my husband! Thank-you to Miraculous Maren.

My dog, Maggie is a part of my family and therefore just like my child care I would not trust just anyone to take care of her. From day one when Maggie was a puppy and she met Maren, from Paw in Hand, my pup was in love. Maren just has a special way with dogs (I think she is actually part canine, she seems to speak their language). She can train a dog in a blink of an eye! Maggie has been walking with Maren once a week for the past four plus years, and has even been lucky enough to stay overnights at times with her buddy Maren and her family.  To this day when Maren picks up Maggie, Maggie lights up with excitement! Maggie is so excited she can barely contain herself but she knows the rules, sit and contain yourself and Maren will pet you, and that is exactly when Maggie does. Then its off for a fantastic fun few hours in the forest and mountains with the pack and her leader, Maren.
I would recommend Maren to anyone for training, walking, boarding or whatever their cainine needs are. She is trustworthy, reliable, responsible and takes her job seriously, while having tons of fun with the dogs! In my opinion she is simply 'the BEST'!
