About Us

Maren has had a lifelong love of all animals and has enjoyed sharing her life with a menagerie of pets. Dogs though, have always held the biggest place in her heart!  Maren shares her life with “Opal” a Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla, "Heide" a German Wirehaired Pointer, "Trixie" a terrierX pocket dog, “Caramel” and “Nino” the feline twosome, various rodent, feathered and finned creatures…and of course her very understanding husband Espen and daughters Metta and Sonja. Maren lives and loves the outdoor lifestyle and can be found hiking, biking, running and exploring in beautiful Sea to Sky Country (usually accompanied by at least one dog!)

Over the last 20 years Maren has trained and competed in various activities with her dogs including Agility, Obedience, Rally-O and flyball amongst others. Maren formed the Sea to Sky Canine Sports Club in 1989 and led agility classes for a number of years.

Having a family of her own turned Maren’s focus to pet dog training. Dog owners in today’s busy society are often challenged in meeting their dogs’ needs. Behaviour problems commonly develop. Overcoming problems in her own dog reinforced her belief that positive training really does work!

Maren apprenticed with Dog Smart Training in Vancouver and assisted in regular and puppy classes. Dr. Melanie Armstrong of Eagleview Veterinary also held puppy classes together with Maren. Currently Maren works on her own or with an assistant and provides private training consultations and the occasional group class.

Maren pursues ongoing educational opportunities to stay informed about innovations in dog training, behaviour and the pet service industry. She is also studying holistic health care for pets. As a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT and CAPPDT) she is committed to a professional code of ethics and dog friendly training methods that use positive methods that promote a caring relationship between dogs and people. Maren opposes training methods that induce fear, cause pain or physical discomfort.
